Therapy for high-functioning women ready to overthink less and trust themselves more.
I help you create space between your thoughts and your reactions — so anxiety feels more manageable, decisions feel clearer, and you stop running on autopilot. We build a framework that's actually yours, not just insights you already know but never know what to do with.

Personal story
I'm Stevie Blum, a licensed psychotherapist and relationship specialist based in New York. I trained at Columbia University's School of Social Work, where I fell in love with Dialectical Behavior Therapy for the simple reason that it actually gives people something to hold onto. Real skills. Real tools. A real relationship between therapist and client.
I got into this work because I believe therapy should leave you feeling equipped, not just understood. Many of my clients come to me after years of doing the work and still feeling stuck. Together, we change that.
Approach
Most of my clients already know why they do what they do. What they're missing is what to do about it. I offer concrete tools for managing distress, regulating emotions, and communicating in a way that actually lands.
A big part of my work is relationships, with partners, family, and yourself. I trained at the Ackerman Institute for the Family, where I learned how the dynamics we grew up with quietly shape the way we love, fight, and connect today. The goal isn't just to understand those patterns. It's to finally start writing new ones.
What I Treat
anxiety • depression • family issues • fears & intrusive thoughts • grief • impulse control issues • life transitions • loneliness & isolation • mood disorders • relationship & communication difficulties • self-esteem & identity issues • stress & burnout
The SWAN Method™ for High-Functioning Anxiety
Successful Woman Appearing Normal™
You've mastered the art of looking fine. The SWAN Method™ was built for what's happening underneath.
SWAN describes the women I work with: the ones who are succeeding by every outside measure, while privately drowning in overthinking, self-doubt, and the invisible pressure to be perfect.
The SWAN Method™ is my four-step framework for getting out of your own head and back into your life. Not just coping better. Actually trusting yourself.
Introducing the SWAN Method
"The skills that made you successful are the same ones keeping you stuck."
The SWAN Method™
You don't feel fine.
You look fine.
You've built the career. You manage everything. But behind the capability and the composure, the overthinking never stops and you can't figure out why nothing you do is ever quite enough.
I help ambitious women move from constant mental surveillance to clear, grounded decision-making, using The SWAN Method™.

The Four SWAN Steps
S
See the Pattern
Recognize the habits of high-functioning anxiety overthinking, people-pleasing, perfectionism, and chronic self-monitoring for what they really are.
W
Widen the Gap
Create space between anxious thoughts and automatic reactions instead of immediately spiraling, fixing, rehearsing, or seeking reassurance.
A
Allow Uncertainty
Build the capacity to tolerate not knowing without needing total control or perfect reassurance before you can act or decide.
N
Navigate with Self-Trust
Make decisions from a grounded, internally anchored place rather than from fear, urgency, or the need for external approval.
These are the quiet patterns that bring high-achieving women to therapy not because something is wrong with them, but because the way they've been coping has a cost.
Does this sound familiar?
You overthink everything
You replay conversations, pre-plan every outcome, and mentally rehearse worst-case scenarios even when nothing is actually wrong.
You're afraid of getting it wrong
Decisions feel heavier than they should. You second-guess yourself even when others trust your judgment completely.
You can't switch off
The moment things slow down, the mental noise gets louder. Rest feels impossible when your brain is always running a background audit.
You look fine on the outside
Nobody would guess the level of effort it takes to hold everything together. The competence is real, so is the exhaustion behind it.
You achieve, but don't feel it
You hit every goal, but the relief never lasts. There's always the next thing to manage, and the bar quietly raises itself.
You want to trust yourself more
You're not looking for more strategies to manage. You want to actually feel settled not just hold it all together more efficiently.
